Dish 11: "Get well" soup

This is something that I will definitely make when I have over-indulged myself with meat for a few days or when I know that I am gonna fall sick soon. Simple dish that will not go wrong.

Most importantly, all the nutrients are contained within that pot of soup..yum yum!

Dish 10-curry chicken

Mum has always made it sound extremely easy. So, with her simple steps, I tried this dish out. Personally, I felt that something is missing. Gravy is not thick enough? No spicy enough? Oh well..still misses mum’s version…

Dish 9-tom yam

I tried making Tom yam with the instant pack. Was tempted to make it using the raw ingredients but then.. on second thought: why be so hard on myself when there’s only the 2 of us eating? To be honest, I have no confident making it from scratch.

DIsh 8-Melting choco pot

I tried this at my sis’ place. I have to admit that she’s a veryyyyyyyyyy good Baker. The oozing hot choco is simply yumilicious!

Asked her for the recipe. Guess what she told me? “U sure u wanna make it?” When I finally receive the receipe from her, I knew what she meant. She has improvised the recipe. As usual, she’s a pro. Haha!

Coincidentally, Nigella was teaching something similar to that on TV. I tried. Nothing compared to sis’ version but it’s seriously not bad…or so I thought. Given that I didn’t have expectation as high as sis’. =P

Dish 7-chicken with the Esscence

This dish was shared with us by Anto & wife. Apparently, it was featured in AFC/travel & living when Anthony Bourdain was here in Singapore.

I tried. Simple steps. Little ingredients needed.

End results: Juice/Essence trapped within a pc of aluminium foil, sucked into the chicken tighs. =P---

Dish 6:Blue cheese Salad

There’s so much recipe on blue cheese from my collection.

That day, I decided to try out one of these receipes. A helped with the dressing(he’s so much better in this).

I have to say that it’s not bad but given that it’s blue cheese, my advice is moderation. Don’t be too ambitious with the amount that you are adding to the dressing.

Dish 5-cornflakes in a cup

The Huang li shu inspired me. While flipping through my recipe books, I found another recipe for CNY goodies. I shall call it cornflakes in a cup. Tried this years ago but failed. This time round, I got it right! Just the way I want it to me. I love the butter taste. It’s interesting for the butter is able to bring out plain cornflakes. It’s like plain Jane(cornflakes) being glam up by a fur coat(butter)..argh…just the thought of that makes me drool…=P

Dish 4: Huang Li Su

With the CNY around the corner, I decided to try making some “hua li su”. It used to be a family tradition to make then till dad passed away…We wasn’t able to find our “secret” recipe(must be buried somewhere at mum’s plc). I followed the recipe that I found in the newspaper. Well…I still prefer the OUR recipe…

Lesson learnt: The tray used makes a difference to the end product…
