White tea

They were discussing about white tea on radio this morning. Curious to find out more, I checked out the internet for information on white tea..

This is my findings(extracted from the internet)

White tea is tea manufactured by a process that uses relatively low heat and no rolling. The formative stage is an extended period of withering, during which enzymatic reactions progress under the right temperature, humidity and airflow. The key is to get the fresh leaves to mature properly with minimal oxidation. White tea usually contains buds and young tea leaves, which have been found to contain lower levels of caffeine than older leaves, suggesting that the caffeine content of some white teas may be slightly lower than that of green teas.

White tea is a specialty of the Chinese province Fujian. The leaves come from a number of varieties of tea cultivars. The most popular are Da Bai (Large White), Xiao Bai (Small White), Narcissus and Chaicha bushes.

A study at Pace University in 2004 showed white tea had more anti-viral and anti-bacterial qualities than green tea.

White tea contains higher catechin levels than green tea due to its lack of processing. Catechin concentration is greatest in fresh, unbroken and unfermented tea leaves.

Furthermore, one study examining the composition of brewed green and white teas found that white tea contained more gallic acid, theobromine, and caffeine.

White tea contains less fluoride than green tea, since it is made from young leaves only

Permission to have another child

"For the grieving survivors of the quake, there was some minor consolation after authorities announced that China's strict family planning policies would be eased to allow parents who lost a child to have another.

New guidelines allow couples who lost their only child to have a second as long as they get official permission, the Chengdu Evening News said. China's one-child policy generally allows families living in urban areas to have one child and rural families two if the first is a girl."

Those days

As I listened to the person talk about IT, the images of all that had happened started flashing back in my mind...Why must this happen again? Well, sometimes, some things are better left unanswered. Some things are better without an answer...

For those didn't know how big dogs poo, this is how they do it. Hunched back, supported by all 4 limps and out comes the "you know what"...but for this dog, he looks really kuku when he poo. -_-

dyslexia

I barely know her but she went on to share with me some of her very personal concerns..…one of which-her dyslexia daughter..


What is dyslexia?(extracted from Wikipedia)

Although dyslexia is the result of a neurological difference, it is not an intellectual disability. Dyslexia occurs at all levels of intelligence; sub-average, average, above average, and highly gifted.


At the end of the day, I walked away with a bagful of knowledge on this disability, a mother's love, family unity, society's acceptance and so many more…

"Big Head"

What happens when a person's head got "big" over nothing?

Do u let it grow even bigger(more snobbish) with the mentality that it will burst 1 day? But what if it never burst and for some reason that expansion got even more aggressive?

How do u handle a someone who can't take jokes? Well, I don't care. I will keep on embarassing him/her. I just love doing things to guys who appears to "know it all" but couldn't even appreciate simple jokes.

I just LOVE stepping on their toes. =P

Leisure Plan in Singapore

"SINGAPORE: In the near future, one will be able to stroll, jog or cycle around the whole of Singapore just by following an extensive route.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is developing a 150-kilometre round-island path as part of its Leisure Plan. National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan revealed details of new recreational options at the Architectural Design Awards 2008 ceremony on Wednesday. The round-island route will be developed over the next 10 to 15 years, but up to two-thirds of the path – which includes the Punggol Coastal Promenade – could be ready in just five years.

At three and a half times the length of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), the route will comprise existing and new park connectors, waterfront promenades and other trails. It will also cover leisure destinations at the Marina Bay, Changi Point and the upcoming Jurong Lake District. "

Negotiation with Rex

Imagine this:

The weather was hot. I had my head underneath the hair dryer for like more than 15mins. Naturally, I wanted and needed the fan to cool me down. But there was this kuku dog standing in front of the fan complaining that he too wanted the fan. I refused to budge. Rex continue to complain to daddy. Finally daddy has to go bring him another fan.

Guess what?

The minute the fan was there in front of him, he stopped whinning. Super spolit right?!

BTW, that kuku boy stole my forcacia bread this time round! Luckily I hid my chiffon cakes, else he will finish all right of them... -_-

Southern Ridges

Have you visited the Southern Ridges? Went over the weekend. I must admit that I am not someone that likes to be out there in the Sun but well, I did enjoy myself. We met to have breakfast together before setting off for the walk. We weren't sure where the starting point was…but CL overhead someone asking for direction from the stall owner and so, that's how we figured out where to head towards…keke..

After which, along the trail, all we need to do is just to follow the crowd…

The time we picked to go wasn't ideal…but the photos turned out great cos' of the sunlight.

We stopped at certain points to drinks, "see see look look", rest and take photos(in fact, we were doing so throughout the whole walk!)

Would I go again?

Sure! But well, I would suggest one to start from Mount Faber instead of harbourfront though…

Wonder how the place will look like at night…

blood clot

I had a blood clot from trying to hit a housefly that had been buzzing around our section for the past few days...

What did the doc do? I am not sure...I was so scared. What I saw before I turned my head away from all the action was him taking up a syringe..when I turn around, blood was oozing out from the clot...



I had my revenge the other day. I kill it! wahahaha!


But this fellow sure is a tough cookie. It was struggling to stand for a few times...wasn't really dead when I hit it with a magazine for like the 3rd time...

What is Ouzo?

Lately, I have been asked a few times, "What is ouzo? Why ouzo?"

Well..This is the formal description for the word OUZO:

It is not produced in any other part of the world except Greece.Ouzo, it is a 100% Greek product and country's national drink.Ouzo is made from a precise combination of pressed grapes, herbs and berries. It begins as alcohol made from grape skins or other local produce. It is then mixed together with herbs and other ingredients, including star anise, coriander, cloves, angelica root, licorice, mint, wintergreen, fennel, hazelnut and even cinnamon and lime blossom. Then why OUZO as my nick? cos' I like his drink? Nope. I chanced upon this word in the dictionary when I was in sec 1. Tried searching for this word in a few other dictionaries but noticed that not every dictionary carries this word. Thought it's pretty unique and thus the choice of OUZO as my nick. =)

Rex's latest weight-31.4kg. This guy is getting heavier..so, for now, his snack will be carrot.

This is what this shop is offering...

What caught my attention was that everytime we pass by the area, there will be people waiting around this shop. So, that day, I decided to check it out.

I bought one whole duck for 2 person(with 1 dog drooling beside us)..

They are fast. Pay at the counter and you are ready to pick up your order in less than 5 mins. Sauce and wrap all prepared. Most importantly, the meat and sauce is really good-restaurant standard(at least to me...keke)

Yes, we finished the whole duck but I suspected someone is super duper bloated. wahahha!

Thief

There's a thief @ home!

This innocent looking guy stole 6 of my chiffon cakes and finished all of them!! And these chiffon cakes are really bigger than the normal ones...

That meant explain why he wasn't excited at all when breakfast was served. Probably still bloated... -_-

once/twice a year only..

Do you have that one friend that you will meet like once/twice every year but the updates/information shared is without any boundaries....the intimacy/closeness of the relationship is not affected by the frequency of your contact with this person?
